That’s How We Started.
The Arab Leadership Institute was founded by a group of students committed to helping their communities and region. As students of leadership and management at Harvard and MIT, we were led by many questions:
– Why were societies in the West able to build institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT?
– Why is our nation back home still lagging behind in development, education, and rights despite the huge potential and resources we have?
– Why do many countries in the region still struggle with conflict, civil war, and violence?
– Why did the Arab Spring begin with so much hope, and why did it fail to achieve lasting democratic change?
The answer, we realized, was “Leadership.”
The Arab Leadership Institute was born out of a vision to empower leaders across the Arab world with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to drive transformative change. Founded on the belief that adaptive leadership can address the region’s most pressing challenges, our institute brings together world-class expertise, localized insights, and a deep commitment to creating a more just, prosperous, and inclusive future. From fostering innovative leadership strategies to building a vibrant network of changemakers, we strive to empower individuals and communities to take bold action in shaping their futures.
Our journey began with the idea that leadership is not just about positions of power but about mobilizing people to tackle complex problems. Through cutting-edge training, research, and collaboration with renowned institutions, we aim to nurture resilient leaders capable of navigating uncertainty and leading change from within their communities. The lessons learned from movements like the Arab Spring and the complex dynamics in the Middle East have shaped our vision: to empower leaders to address these challenges head-on and create sustainable, long-lasting solutions for the region.
